Ambrette seeds come from an aromatic plant native to India. These seeds are most commonly used today to produce aromatic oil valued for its use in luxury perfumes.

The seeds of this herb are valued for their stimulant abilities as a tonic, and an aphrodisiac. The oil from these seeds are valued for its sweet, rich wine or brandy–like, floral, musky scent

In Ayurvedic practices, the plant is considered to pacify aggravated kapha. As defined by Ayurveda, the Kapha relates to respiratory ailments.
