Betel Nut, Pieces

The betel nut, which is actually a fruit from the betel palm, can be found in Asia and Africa. The kernels of both green and ripe fruits (often called “nuts”) are chewed as a stimulant, often in combination with the leaves or fruit of betel pepper and lime. The betel nut palm is now cultivated across the Asian tropics as a cash crop, as well as in almost every village garden

People who chew betel nut tend to produce saliva in large amounts which help them with dry mouth caused by diabetes and other health conditions. Chew on a couple of betel nuts when you get a dry mouth.

Chewed either dried or ripe, with lime and betel pepper, the betel nut was most commonly used because of its stimulant effects.
