The yohimbe tree is a tall evergreen that is native to western Africa. The bark of the tree contains a chemical called yohimbine. Yohimbe bark has traditionally been used in Africa as an aphrodisiac (to increase sexual desire).

Yohimbe has been know to be an aphrodisiac.. To drink steep 1 teaspoon of yohimbe in 8 ounces of hot water. Boil for 5 to 10 minutes if using leaves or flowers and 10 to 20 minutes for roots. This makes a tea that is commonly used as a stimulant.

Yohimbe bark powder is a short term MAO inhibitor and should be used with caution; it should not be used simultaneously with anti–depressants, sedatives, antihistamines, amphetamines, caffeine or any other kind of stimulant, such as ginseng. Warning: Do not take Yohimbe if you have hypertension/hypotension or existing liver and kidney diseases or chronic inflammation of the sexual organs or prostate gland; do not take with pharmaceutical MAO-inhibitors, anti-depressants or hypotensive drugs. Not recommended for excessive or long-term use. Can cause nervous excitation, tremor, sleeplessness, anxiety, increased blood pressure, tachycardia, nausea and vomiting. Take only under the supervision of a healthcare practitioner.”
